#WIAW- Proud VS. Not So Proud Food Moments

I figured it was time. Time to post a WIAW. For me, for you, for 2013. (Raise your glass…of freshly juiced veggies and fruits, that is 😉 !)

The last few months of 2012 were pretty much what the Wild Wild West was like if somehow there were lots of flour, glass clinking, and pants that wouldn’t (and still) don’t fit. (Maybe if those wild cowboys drew their cakes instead of their guns, we wouldn’t have a whole movie genre dedicated to the era.)

The overeating belly made its annual appearance right before Thanksgiving and overstayed its welcome until just about a week ago.

I didn’t physically gain weight on the scale, but the buttons and bulges in my pants told me all I needed to know. (PUT DOWN THE CAKE AND REACH FOR SOME CARROTS.)

My diet primarily consists of what any bunny rabbit would eat: dandelion greens, collards, kale, carrots, peppers, onion, mushroom, chocolate, focaccia, cupcakes, focaccia, pizza, pita chips (okay, maybe not that last part, but seriously, how do those bunnies get so rotund? They must be sneaking some kind of ice cream into the grass or something. I’m convinced.)

Back to normal brain wavelength function…the holidays weren’t even the food devil for me. It was honestly in between that were the issue. Either I wasn’t eating enough (due to sickness) or I was shoveling everything in like it was my last day here on this bountiful earth.

Here are some proud and not so proud food moments from the past few months:

Hummus and matching addict at its finest!

I posted this recipe yesterday. Seriously so good!

Spaghetti Squash over a veggie medley

Banana Chocolate Chip Blondies Made w/ Amaranth Flour. All thanks to purely twins recipe! So yum.

So far the collard wraps are dominating my lunches in 2013.

My "ants in the grass" lunch at work. AKA- black beans, rice, broccoli, carrots, peppers, and spinach.

Beeeeeetttttttttssssssss. Hi five. All the time.

Strawberry Chocolate Mug Cake for breakfast. Next time there will be molten chocolate oozing out of the middle.

Made with coconut oil, almonds, shredded coconut, and melted dark chocolate morsels all in the food processor.

Holiday treats were a hit with Sweet Tooth Court's PB Chocolate Pretzel recipe.

I cheated on my made from scratch cooking with Betty Crocker over the holidays. Whoops.

Not so proud:

Chili Cheese fries. Yep, I'm vegetarian but for some reason cow was super appealing with cheese doused over top at the diner.

Taken before the waitress corrected this to its rightful combo of peanut butter cookies with chocolate chip ice cream. Thank heavens the bf was there to share this with me. (Even though I ate more than half.) Do you blame me?

I was lucky enough to stop myself at halfway through the jar. You need this in your life.

This actually doesn't have any devil horns sticking out of it, but it's on the not so proud list because the sugars are a little too high for me.

So…there you have it. I’d say my healthy outweighs the unhealthy for the most part, but we still need to work on curbing the wild carb and chocolate cravings in 2013.

How is your eating going this January? Any new things you are incorporating into your diet?

Peace, love, and staying on track!

  1. Hm, I guess we all have those not-so-proud moments. But as long as we carry on and not let the guilt drive us deeper towards the wrong direction, it’s no problem! 😀

of course! any time! I am totally not eating the greatest either. It’s like every other meal is dark chocolate and bread!
