Foodie Pen Pals #7- Variety Is The Spice of Life

The Lean Green Bean

Hip, hip, hooray, it’s foodie pen pals day!

Let’s start off and say that I received my package this month from Dena who blogs over at 40 Fit In the Mitt.

In typical FPP fashion, I tore the package opened in less than 5 seconds.

Inside contents contained:

-1 Lickety Sip mold

-fruit pop/yogurt pop instructions

-Himalania Goji Berry Trail Mix

-Sunbutter

-Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter & Maple Almond Butter

-1 Chocolove bar- salted peanuts/milk chocolate flavor

-Hemp Hearts

-3 magazines- Whole Living, Clean Eating, Eating Well

-Celestial Seasonings- Fruit Tea Sampler

So if my blog gives you any inclination of my love for chocolate, you know that I tore open the milk chocolate bar first. I hate this saying but- YOLO and you never know if you’ll make it to dessert, so why not eat it first?

I don’t know about you-but I always love a good variety pack of anything in life. Whether it be containing food, underwear, or in this case…TEA! I honestly have been more of a coffee drinker lately, so this kicked me right back into my tea fiending habit!

I love love loved the magazines sent as they had some interesting articles and recipes I’ll be recreating.

I used some of the Hemp Hearts in my salads and hummus, as well as the goji trail mix. So super yum! I had never tried the Sunbutter before- I had a failed attempt with Trader Joe’s brand and it made me swear off sunflower butter, but this one…it’s much sweeter and the creaminess makes me swoon. Here is just one of the many things I’ve used it with (frozen fruit):

As you know, I also thoroughly enjoyed the pop molds. Check out my post from last week on what exactly I made with them.

Check out what I sent to Kim over at My Healthy Nest.

You should participate too! Here’s some info about the whole process:

On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

Check Lindsay’s blog out for even more info!

  3. Karen G says:

I’ve been in the market for Popsicle molds recently so it’s good to know you liked yours. What a great package with lots of fun treats! I’ve never had sunflower seed butter so I’ll have to keep an eye out for that.

  4. totally jealous that I missed out last month. Not to mention that I’m missing out this month cause I forgot to sign up by the 5th since I was busy on vacay at the beach! Now I have to patiently wait for next month. 🙁
