#MotivationalMondays- Beasting at the Beach

It’s summer. It’s hot. It’s time for vacations, ice cream past midnight, and one too many margaritas at the beach. Oh, and also one of my recent favorites…RUNNING!

My family (and I) are typical Jersey Shore addicts. (NOTE: Not in the fistpump, bump it wearing, shore store kind of way…) Every Friday (sometimes Thursday- for the financially blessed), it’s parkway south after 2 P.M. until Sunday night. We’ve been to nearly every beach on the shore and like many “yo mama!” jokes, it never gets old to me.

My mother’s side of the family resides in L.B.I. all summer, so the bf and I decided to pay a visit this past weekend. (did I mention…we are still here? :)) Sometimes it pays to be unemployed freelancer.

I chose not to bring any workout equipment with me due to my 400 ft. driveway being paved and my feet being unable to carry my 6+ bags up and down the hill without collapsing. (I think I easily burned off a couple of birthday cake oreo cookies the other day with all of the foot travel back and forth…BTW- I ate the entire package in less than 2 days. I consider it an accomplishment, not a setback!) So my 10 lb. weights, resistance bands, medicine ball, and other forms of workout torture equipment are nestled safely in my room at home.

Doesn’t mean that I didn’t beast it down here!

Friday’s sweatfest:


-2.12 mile run with circuits in between on a park bench, picnic table, and used a street sign for my inner and outer thigh exercises

-the above ^, plus 10 minutes of yoga and LOTS of BEACH walking (It’s about 1 mile to the beach and back) It was also about 92 degrees and I felt like my eyelashes were becoming ash.

Complete road domination…it’s True Life: I’m Becoming A Runner style! (well- at least for the summer…)

…and we’re set to do some biking and my yoga dvd later on!

I know I’ve been kind of slacking on posting lately…I’ve had some things on the back burner that are now finally coming to fruition. Isn’t that feeling of trying, trying, trying, and waiting, waiting, waiting amazing when it all comes together in the end?

Um…these look fake, but I assure you they are real…and my favorite flower of all time. (hawaiian hibiscus!)

What have you all been up to in terms of your fitness and workouts this past week? Do you run in hot weather or chill inside? It totally motivates me! 🙂

    I love this because you’re taking it back to the basics. You don’t need fancy equipment to get a good workout in, it’s nice, but not necessary. Good for you for taking a long vacation, I’m not going to lie, I’m completely jealous!
    The relay I’m running ends on the Jersey Shore and I’m pretty excited since I’ve never been there!

      that’s awesome! Yeah, I used to be so attached to the gym I would be so afraid if I went on a vacation I would never get the same workout in as I did in the gym. haha, what a farse that was! It’s almost better when you workout with no equipment so your body gets a change thrown in once in a while! Have a great relay! and no, it’s nothing like the Jersey Shore on tv. (Thank god!)
