23Paws- Leena & Sadie

Nope, that title is not a typo or even the next name for the newest fitness craze. It’s Eat Pray Tri’s new link-up party!

23Paws is all about your pet- whether it be a dog, cat, cockatoo, or even pet rock, this is their day to shine!! (Insert proud momma gloating status now.)

When I had heard about this last month, I knew I had to participate. I am one of those people who cries over all the Sarah MacLaughlin abused animal commercials. I’m a complete animal lover, and even though I HATE cats, if they really were in danger, I’d obviously save it.

Back in college, I had seen a ton of celebrities and even some of my neighbors sporting what looked like a miniature Boxer dog around town. (I’ve always wanted one of those “purse dogs” but quickly outgrew that once I saw Paris Hilton carrying one.)

This miniature Boxer I learned was called a Puggle.Β It’s a mix of a beagle and a pug. We had 3 Boxer’s prior to this all who had passed, so my parents thought it’d be a great smaller transition. Well…turns out…we received a dog who was on a mixture of speed and valium at the same time. We chose to name her Leena (a nickname of our old dog Rocky-whom we called rockaleena at times). There was some bickering over the name Zooey, but I quickly learned she wasn’t demure enough for a name like that. So Leena it was!

She’s a terror but a blessing all rolled into one. She can be your best friend or worst nightmare depending on what time of day it is.

Oh also…she has an adopted sister from another mister…Sadie. She’s a Scottish Terrier. I tend to favor Leena over Sadie due to Leena’s petability. Sadie is a scotty so that temperament doesn’t mix well with kisses and hugs. Reaching down to even pick her up is worthy of a nice hand nip. (spoken from many times of experience)

We actually purchased (ugh I hate that word when referring to pets!) Sadie before Leena and she was a black angel. Back then, she was the length of my forearm and I gave her all the tender loving care she desired. That quickly changed once Leena came around. Oh sibling rivalry!

Enough gabbing about these two, here are some of their “finest” pics:

*NOTE*- Leena is always posing, Sadie is camera shy most of the time and outside hunting groundhogs or digging holes to stick stolen pieces of food or treats into. (They are both 4 this year- 2 months a part!)

Winter 2010

Sisters & Dogs- Leena LOVES water, can’t you tell?

I call her lazy every day and this is why…

Shag Monster!

Dogs for dinner?! (table sitting is a regular occurrence and it always leaves a funny taste in my mouth, GROSS!)

Sometimes Leena is intellectual

But most of the time she’s ready for you to “take her good side”:

Sadie waiting until the cows come home to “dig in” to her birthday cake: (What a lady!)

Do you have any pets? If so, be sure to draft up your introduction for next month’s link-up party! Check out all the other furry friends at Eat Pray Tri’s blog!Β

Peace, love, and have your pet spayed or neutered!

I love the “speed and valium” comment! πŸ™‚ We just adopted a Saint Bernard, and most of the time she can be found snoring away on the floor in a patch of sunlight. But, we’ve noticed that she’s started a pattern….not to be too gross, but after she goes to the bathroom in the evening, she turns into Crackhead Dog and starts running around the yard like crazy….she’ll run to us, flop on her back in the grass, then get up and run away again, in circles. She also tries to get the Hubs to wrestle with her when she’s doing this. It’s hilarious. I have no idea where she gets that energy! Your dogs are so cute….love all the photos! πŸ™‚

  5. They are so cute! I love the shot of them on the table. One of my dogs likes to check out the table when he thinks we aren’t looking.
