It’s that time of the month again…but a little more enjoyable than that other time of the month…if you know what I mean…

FOODIE PEN PALS REVEAL DAY!
This month I received my package from Maria over at Lil Mys Ninja.
Here’s the note she included: (Um, Hello Kitty, yes please!)
If you don’t have the superpower of reading small font, here’s a list of what was inside:
1. Bear Naked Peak Energy Trail Mix
2. Dry Roasted Edamame
3. Chunks of Energy-Chocolate Almond Chip- from Whole Foods! (Wish mine had these!!)
4. Pure Honey- from a local farm in South Carolina
5. Vegan Decadence- Lemon Poppy Cookie
6. Buddy Fruits: Raspberry Bites w/apple & banana blends
7. Stretch Island Fruit Strips: Cherry/Raspberry
8. PB & CO. Easy Squeeze Packs: Smooth Operator/Dark Chocolate Dreams
9. NuGo Dark Mocha Chocolate bar
10. Larabar: Peanut Butter & Jelly
So it was love at first bite with many of these items. This is what the package looked like- prior to me completely tearing everything a part.
Here’s an after shot:
As you can tell, not much remains but wrappers. The most beloved item were the Chocolate Chunk energy bites she bought from her local Whole Foods. They contained: chocolate chips, malted barley and corn, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, honey, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, tofu powder, almonds, pineapple, papaya, almond butter, cocoa powder, and vanilla powder.
She also won me over with my favorite protein/chocolate bars- NuGo. So delicious!
I usually make sour faces when it comes to lemon, but that lemon poppy cookie was eaten in one sitting! The Peanut butters were fantastic-as always. She got me the Smooth Operator and Dark Chocolate Dreams.
I also gobbled those raspberry fruit bites up in a mad dash to the gym one day, along with half of the PB/Jelly Larabar. This was one of the flavors I had been dying to try out- so thanks Maria!
The trail mix and roasted edamame I’ve been using sparingly in salads and as snacks between meals.
The fruit strips I will probably use before a long run someday soon. These take me back to the days of Fruit By The Foots! Anyone remember those? Greatest lunch time snack! 🙂
As for the adorable honey, that may have to stay as just decoration. It’s one of those “too cute to open” sort of deals.
Be sure to check out what I sent to Loy who blogs at From Grandma Loy’s Kitchen!
If you are interested in participating for April, here is the 411:
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
