“On my desk by 2…”
Maybe it was all those years of adhering to rules and handing in homework early just to mentally place a “gold star” on my totem pole, but nowadays I’d purposely take my lunch break at that time if I am told to make a deadline.
I am sure this warrants some flabbergasting and eyebrow furrowing, but I hate taking orders. If you told me NOT to press the red button in fear that the world would implode, I’d probably do it. Curiosity killed the cat, but at least the cat still looked cute and maintained its autonomy.
I guess you could call the above symptoms of “pride”, with a small pinch of arrogance. This is a whole new realm I have not dipped my toe into…and I kind of understand in the most flattering, classy way possible Willa Ford’s one hit wonder, “I wanna be bad.”
Last Friday at a business event, I realized I had not only a mouth but a voice that proved to be revenue generating. Now for those of you who don’t know me, I’m a super introvert. I mean like fly on the wall but with an occasional buzzing, but I possess no presence of a lion, tiger, or bear.
If you asked all 500 something graduates of VTHS class of 2005 to identify me in a picture their reaction would be, “who is that?”.
Moving on, I’ve decided to “stick it to the man” and engage in “quitting time” for good. I’m not retiring or staging a mid-life epiphany where I go off to Bora Bora to somehow find myself beneath palm trees and ocean blue cocktails; just stepping out onto my own stage and taking control of my own act. The spotlight is on me, where it should have been 10+ years ago.
That being said, my new life venture will encompass my passion for fitness and nutrition, but I cannot divulge anything further in fear of a “prosperity devil” coming to claim my rights.
All I can say is I’m so proud of myself for breaking through my own boundaries and insecurities to shed light on my very lost and confused psyche.
So what’s the lesson learned today kids? Go out and do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone and into a whole new world of discovery. Be sure to take your confidence and leave all negativity back in that box.
As always, you can go to Meg’s blog for #HighFiveFridays and link your achievements/epiphanies/accomplishments for the week up!
Peace, love, and “I feel good!”
